Color Theory

If you have ever wondered about Color Theory this is the workshop for you. Do you want to improve your understanding of colors?

Color Theory is about the relationship between colors. During the two sessions, you will experience color theory through the relationships among complimentary colors, cool colors, hot colors, ugly colors, beautiful "mud" colors and subtle colors.

You will also be introduced to a contemplative approach to art making. At the end of the day you will have completed at least two drawings.

You can bring your own oil pastels to class, or I will sell you a box at the first class. Good drawing paper will be provided at each session.

Creating Your Personal Expression

If you have every wanted to explore your personal style in depth, this is the workshop for you!

Using a special technique, "series drawing", you will explore youre personal expression in a safe, supportive atmosphere.

When you draw in a series, your personal style begins to emerge naturally. You can fine tune your expression and discover new ways of expressing yourself by taking the time to get in touch with your right brain.

Although we use oil pastels in teh workshop, this technique is application to other medium.

You can bring your own oil pastels to class, or I will sell you a box at the first class. Good drawing paper will be provided at each session.

Saturday Art Workshop at Boulder Fairgrounds

Exploring Your Right Brain through Series Drawing

If you have always wanted to discover that wonderful place in your brain where you create your art, this is the workshop for you!

Using a special technique called "Series Drawing", we will spend a morning creating fast, quick series drawings using oil pastels. This technique is translatable into other media, we are just using oil pastels because they are fast and easy to use. At the end of the morning, you will have created a series of drawings and, in the process, you will have expanded your creative process and gotten in touch with your right brain functioning where you create your art.

This process might take you out of your comfort zone, but it will expand you expressiveness in your work. Join us for a wonderful morning of laughter and expansiveness. No art experience is necessary but this process is great for working artists to expand your style and expressiveness.

Inner Landscapes

Composition is the most important part of every drawing.

During the two art sessions, you will explore the elements of composition, including how to create foreground and background in your art. At each session, you will have the opportunity to draw your exploration of your inner landscape.
