| Art Workshops & Retreats
In
1994, when I relocated to the San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado
on the western slope of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, I intentionally
designed my life in such a way that I spend my entire day moving
from one creative project to another. I draw, paint, write, teach
art classes/workshops/retreats, make sock monkeys, knit baby hats
and sweaters.
My days are full of light and joy in
doing what I love. I begin my day with gratitude and end my day
in thanksgiving.
My spirituality is an integral part
of my life. I live a quiet, simple life incorporating my meditative
perspective into my work.
I have had a life filled with a wide
variety of experiences. In the 1960’s, I questioned the
world as an Honors Philosophy major in college. During the summer
between my transition from college to graduate school, I worked
in Washington DC as a summer intern for the Legislative Counsel
for the U.S. House of Representatives. In the 1970’s and
early 1980’s I enjoyed the excitement and challenge of corporate
life in Denver working for KHOW Radio and Frontier Airlines. I
later opened my own promotions company in Denver. I traveled through
Europe, South/Central America and the Far East. In the late 1980’s,
I returned to college, at the age of 40, to educate myself to
be the artist I had dreamed of becoming.
Today, I combine a BFA degree in Studio
Arts with a BA degree in Philosophy to create a new approach to
art making. I teach art workshops and retreats with a contemplative,
philosophical, experiential point-of-view.
During the transition from the end
of the last century into the beginning of this new century, I
am the person I want to be and I live a life I want to live.
