Artist Statement

As a contemplative artist, the seed of inspiration arises from within the depths of my soul. The creative process begins when I assimilate an ordinary life experience into my contemplative exploration. As I begin to paint or draw, I place the essence of the impression in my heart and carry it with me until the product of my time and energy erupts into an expression of the extraordinary aspects of everyday existence and the expansive beauty of corporal matter. For me, the process is pure joy!

Color is the central focus of my art making.
I create images to hold the color.
The more outrageous the combinations of hues
the happier I am.
Exaggeration is my most reliable compositional element.

My desire is to excite the eye with color

inspire the mind to look
at the world
from a contemplative, colorful perspective.
